Magic Touch Win Signature Series B making them Signature Champs

There comes a point in the season when it's easier to just look at the results tables than to open lots of individual results pages. The overall results and standings for the Summer Series, with all the detailed timings etc, are always available. A quick check there recalls that Magic Touch won the Signature Series A, and yesterday the red spinnaker took first position overall in Signature Series B as well - that gives them a reasonable claim to being this years undisputed signature champions - well done Ewen & Jake!

Last year we couldn't use committee boats because of the Covid restrictions, so we adopted rabbit starts and self-timed finishes etc. That significantly reduced the OD burden on club members allowing everyone to race, so we continued it this year with the added feature of "Cup Days" at the end of each signature series and with a 'proper' RO, 'proper' starts, and 'proper' timings. In all cases the 'proper' has been provided by Steve Bewsher on the WCA OD boat. As much as the rabbit starts have been fun, it's been great to have some properly run races and we all owe Steve a proper note of thanks, and a few pints. Cheers Steve!

Allide - this word does not get the love it deserves, so we should appreciate High Five's stirling efforts to keep it in circulation :-)

A good turnout on a fine day gave close racing with occasionally challenging conditions for short handed crews. Pura Vida looked ahead on the water but corrected times show a different picture with Seventh Heaven taking Race 2 and the fleet close together for both races. Nevertheless, Pura Vida held on to pip Seventh Heaven to this year's September Cup.
