The WCA is unusual in that we don't have a clubhouse. A lot of the 'clubhouse' type social activity takes place on member's yachts, whether anchored in a bay on the lake, or alongside in a marina.
However we do have organised social activities as well. These include on-the-water raft-ups in the summer, and land based activities. Our most recent being a treasure hunt that ranged across the West side of the lake near Hilltop. Popular past events have included clay pigeon shooting and afternoon tea at Storrs Hall.
We also have organised but informal social evenings, often in the BoatHouse Restaurant at WMV, or in another venue in Bowness or Ambleside. We occasionally have formal dinners, typically with prize-giving. and we had a lake dinner cruise to celebrate our semi-centenary.
In essence, the social life of the Association veers away from 'stuffy' towards fun, and that means it's generally informal and more ad-hoc than formal and very structured.
