Welcome to the new WCA website

A new website and a new shorter URL.

Our previous website has served us extremely well; so much so that we have been very reluctant to change. However the hosting service that we use has slowly been increasing the cost of remaining on the older platform, and it is more than three times the price of the newer version. Unfortunately though they don't provide any way to migrate from the old 'system' to the new. A redesign was therefore necessary because the old templates don't work with the new tools - and so here we are.

On the plus side it does provide an opportunity to try to improve the appearance on mobile phones and tablets. If you use either of these you should notice the difference - and please let us know if there are any issues you spot as they're likely to have been overlooked.

A note of thanks to Steve Hackett - he set up the previous site, and if this iteration does half as well as that we will be very happy.

Another change is the introduction of wcasailing.com as our new URL. We will redirect windermere-cruising-association.co.uk here, and we will retain windermere-winter-series.co.uk direct at the annual Winter Series Page. The name of the association was officially changed to 'The WCA' at the 2018 AGM and, while the change was reflected in a new version of the association's constitution, the url change was deferred for the reasons laid out above.

Feedback and comments are of course, always welcome.

A good turnout on a fine day gave close racing with occasionally challenging conditions for short handed crews. Pura Vida looked ahead on the water but corrected times show a different picture with Seventh Heaven taking Race 2 and the fleet close together for both races. Nevertheless, Pura Vida held on to pip Seventh Heaven to this year's September Cup.
