High Five get caught right at the end.

A good turnout for the Commodore's Weekend Pursuit Race. We started in the North Lake just off Miller Ground using the life buoy between the jetties as the stbd mark and mark 15 as the port mark, and then wound our way up the lake 4S 13P 6S 9P 8P (14S 8P repeated).

There were some big clouds forming and they sucked up the beginning so everyone was in the same place when it filled in. Boats that stayed on the East shore benefited over those that followed the wind in the middle and High Five established a good lead which she maintained for the whole of the upwind leg - flying away from the rest of the fleet on the 6S 9P leg. Jailbreak caught up however just before 1545 and took first place with High Five a close second.

Sunday morning's weather was awful, with everyone admitting to wishing they could just stay in bed - but then it brightened exactly as per the forecast and the afternoon was super.

The Commodore arranged a full program of entertainment including dinghy races, and everyone's a winner bingo. Pics below.

A good turnout on a fine day gave close racing with occasionally challenging conditions for short handed crews. Pura Vida looked ahead on the water but corrected times show a different picture with Seventh Heaven taking Race 2 and the fleet close together for both races. Nevertheless, Pura Vida held on to pip Seventh Heaven to this year's September Cup.
