2023 September Cup

Renegade triumph!

We've been experimenting for the last few weekends when the wind has been WSW, using a course from Low Wood Bay up to mark 6. Traditionally we'd head South but I'm of the view that we get better racing with the option to use mark 8 if the wind veers more Westerly. Let me know if you have any views either way.

Saturday's race saw four competitors. The wind dropped on the first upwind leg of the first leg, and then filled to bring the fleet back together.

Jailbreak was sailed by Jake single handed and put in a very good show as you'll see from the results. Pura Vida managed to crash into the committee boat which is a first I think and may save the Commodore from another Pierce's Pot award!

High Five and Pura Vida were very close to each other on the water in both races.

But the laurels fall to Josh and Ian on Renegade - congratulations!

A good turnout on a fine day gave close racing with occasionally challenging conditions for short handed crews. Pura Vida looked ahead on the water but corrected times show a different picture with Seventh Heaven taking Race 2 and the fleet close together for both races. Nevertheless, Pura Vida held on to pip Seventh Heaven to this year's September Cup.
